Accommodation:
Accommodation is on a twin room basis in typically clean and comfortable Scandinavian guest house and research centre. Single room supplements are available on request.
Level of fitness:
The walks to the hides can involve deep snow and steep climbs, but are rarely more than 10 minutes in length. Days in the appropriately equipped hides can involve up to 10 hour sessions, so a decent level of stamina and fitness is necessary and appropriate clothing and footwear too.

Finnish Winter
The Finnish winter is undoubtedly harsh but potentially beautiful too. This trip will take us to a couple of different regions where our prime focus will be on hunting owls – Hawk Owl and Great Grey Owl skimming across the snowfields being our primary goal. Each year is different though with these silent hunters so we will have alternative options with the more regularly visiting Golden Eagle, Dippers fishing where the ice has melted on nearby streams, and feeding stations for local specialities such as Siberian Jay and Tit along with a whole array of other passerines, and a full day working in the enclosures of a polar zoo with Arctic Fox in their winter coats and European Lynx amongst the highlights very much on the agenda of this true European winter wonderland.
