 Video weekend

The latest models of SLR’s have started packing excellent video (including HD) capability into their workings and the opportunities that this provides have not gone unnoticed in the film industry; many TV and movie productions are now using SLR’s to make their productions. Using lenses and set-ups you probably already have for your still photography, the world of video is a few clicks away and this weekend is designed to not only open your eyes to the capabilities you now have at your fingertips, but also to give you all the practical advice you need to really make the most of the technology. The two days will be split equally: on the first day we will be shooting at The Barn Owl Centre in Gloucester, which will give us an array of opportunities to learn the different techniques and shots to look for with video. And on the second day, we will be indoors, taking all the footage from the previous day and getting to grips with video production software (we’ll be using Sony Vegas but the principles will apply to all). We will turn the clips that you’ve shot into a short video show ready for your website or youtube!

Paul Bunyard, a professional videographer who is a very keen wildlife photographer and short film maker will be joining us to run the 2 days, and you can see a sample of his work above (shot on a Canon 7D). Don't forget to turn up the volume.
