We are absolutely delighted to offer this opportunity to fulfil many a wildlife photographers dream trip to the Arctic in the summer of 2010. This is the ultimate trip to the land of the Polar Bear (our prime target for the trip). This will be a small group of 7 guests, our own chartered yacht and expert guides ensuring we have the experience, knowledge and expertise a trip such as this requires, alongside a flexible itinerary (driven by wildlife photography) of three and a half weeks: you can see just why we think it's as unique an opportunity as it is. No cruise ship landing parties here, and if a location is working well we'll stay to make the most of it before moving on, an approach that will ensure that the chance to capture intimate wildlife images and truly reflect the captivating landscapes of this remotest corner of Europe can be truly maximised.
The trip is being organised by renowned polar explorer Nigel Winn through his Island Expeditions. Our ship is the newly built Jonathan 4, owned and skippered by equally renowned polar sailor Mark van de Weg. Alongside their expertise and experience we will set the agenda for our wildlife photographer guests looking to maximise your photographic output : it's a trip that Danny undertook with Nigel and Marc in 2008 so we know what you can expect to achieve.
Tour Leaders will be both Danny Green and Mark Sisson - allowing us to offer maximum flexibility each day - you may fancy an exploratory trip in search of say an Ivory Gull colony or another day working from the zodiac or boat along the coastline: this way you'll have the numbers of guides to allow us to do this and still maintain the safety requirements necessary in the land of the polar bear.

The expedition will begin on 10th July (we'll set sail that evening from Longybearn) and will conclude when we return to harbour on August 4th.
This is an adventure that you will almost certainly want to talk through with us before booking, so if you are seriously interested then please just contact us by e-mail or phone the office (Tel: 01952 411436) and we'll look to answer any questions you may have. It's also a trip which needs some consideration on your part; the photography on offer though promises to be truly spectacular and well worth any challenges.
The cost of the trip will be £6995 - inclusive of all your costs once you arrive at the boat at our start point of Longybearn on the island of Spitsbergen. It therefore excludes your flights, alcoholic drinks and travel insurance - always a must on our trips but especially so on this one given the remote nature of where we will be travelling. Please bear in mind the length of the trip and flexibility of opportunity our party size gives us when making comparisons.
We'd classify this trip as Level 5 (our highest) in terms of fitness rating - not because of any excessive hiking/climbing involved as this is optional, but 3 and a half weeks on a yacht and the challenges of working in a season of 24 hour sunlight brings certain challenges.
